At the River we value:
- God and His Goodness
We love God and it is our honor and privilege to minister to Him with extravagant joy and gratitude. We believe that God is always good and has a plan to give us a Future and a Hope. We are called to communicate hope with our words and actions and we are passionate to share the GOOD news with others. Through Jesus we have been saved from the power of the devil – sin, lies, sickness and torment and brought into relationship with God as His sons and daughters; where understand He is not “mad at us” and we are far more than “sinners saved by grace”.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil to give you a future and a hope.
John 10:10b… I came that they may have life and have it more abundantly
- Community and Relationships
While our first priority is to grow our relationship with God, we, as a church and followers of Christ, value the importance of growing in relationship with each other. We see the church being a place of encouragement, where we receive and give encouragement to one another. We are building a culture of honor and kindness that fulfills the Law of Love. We also value the gift of hospitality, allowing people to feel safe and cared for as we gather together.
1 Corinthians 13:7 – Love always.. protects, believes, and hopes
Luke 2:52 – Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man
Acts 2:42-45 – … Praising God and having favor with all of the people and the Lord added to their number daily
- Hosting His Presence through Worship
As we worship we encounter God’s presence. An encounter with God’s presence brings us into deeper relationship with Him. We get to know and understand Him more with the help of the Holy Spirit. We value music as an expression of praise and a place for building intimacy with God.
Matthew 18:20 – for where two or three are gathered in My name, there Am I among them.
Psalm 9:1-2. – I will give thanks the Lord with my whole heart… I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
- Supernatural Lifestyle
A supernatural lifestyle is one that models Jesus, doing extraordinary things in everyday life. It shouldn’t just be contained within the walls of the church; we should take it wherever we go. As a church, we believe that we’ve all been commissioned to heal the sick, raise the dead, “cleanse the lepers”, cast out demons as well as changing the atmosphere around us; so we equip and send our church to carry on these signs and wonders.
1 Cor. 14:1 – Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.
Matthew 10:7-8 – Proclaim as you go, saying, “The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons…
- Impacting Culture through Love and Power
As we individually and collectively embrace and live out our church values, we will impact every sphere with His unconditional love and transforming power fulfilling the Great Commission and leading to transformation in ourselves, our families and our city. We value prayer and believe that our words, fueled by the Holy Spirit, have the power to bring positive change to situations in our world.
Jeremiah 29:7 – Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you… And pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
John 3:17 – God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.
